Shocking: Class 5 student gang-raped and set on fire in Assam

Guwahati, March 23:In yet another shocking incident, five miscreants allegedly gang-raped a minor girl studying in Class 5 and also set the body on fire after pouring kerosene at Nagaon, Assam.

The shocking incident happened at Dhaniyabheti, Lalung Gaon in Nagaon which falls under Batadroba constituency.

As per the Time8 news reports, the family members have rushed the girl to the nearest Hospital but the minor girl died on her way to GMCH on Friday late night.

As per reports, the victim’s burn injuries had already destroyed her internal organs as 90% of her body was burnt.

The girl has somehow manged to name four of the culprits before her death, said the reports.

It is learned from the the updated news reports that the police team has apprehended two minors for the incident. Two of the accused have been taken under police custody for interrogation, however the prime accused, identified as Zakir Hussian, is still absconding.

It is worth mentioning that as per the latest NCRB 2016 stats, Assam has the highest number of rapes and gang-rapes in NE states. A total of 1779 rape cases was reported in Assam in 2016 and out of which 464 cases or 26% of the reported rape cases were of minors. In 2016, Assam has 31 reported cases of gang-rape.
