It’s here and it’s as fast and furious as ever…and soars to new heights!
The trailer for Furious 7, the seventh movie in the Fast & Furious franchise, was released on Saturday during a special world premiere event at Universal Studios, which was live-streamed on E! Online.
The film is set for release on April 3, 2015 and features some of the last acting scenes Paul Walker had filmed before his shocking death. He reprises his role as Brian O’Connor, teaming up once again with Vin Diesel‘s Dominic “Dom” Toretto for some more street racing, heists and general hijinks and as, the latter star says, “one last ride.”
The trailer shows Dom, O’Connor and other members of their daredevil crew—Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman Pearce (Tyrese) and Tej Parker (Ludacris) sitting in cars and revving up their engines while on board…a four-engine transport plane. Time to fly.
Walker showcases some amazing stunts in a couple of scenes and plays the hero in one of them, while Rodriguez’s character takes over that role in another, saving him from a terrifying fall.
The trailer also shows returning stars Dwayne Johnson, who reprises his role as bounty hunter and ally Luke Hobbs, Jordana Brewster, who plays Dom’s sister Mia Toretto again, and Jason Statham, who stars as villain Ian Shaw, who made a cameo in Fast & Furious 6. He seeks vengeance against the crew over the killing of his brother, Owen Shaw.
Furious 7 also features newcomer and action movie veteran Kurt Russell, who is also seen in the trailer.
The scenery is breathtaking—in addition to gorgeous views of Colorado mountains, the trailer also shows camels walking on sand dunes. Parts of Furious 7 were filmed in Abu Dhabi. Other scenes were shot in the Los Angeles area, Georgia, Canada and Japan, the location of the third film, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
