I have always been fascinated by realistic paintings and gushed about it whenever I come across in the internet. It looks so real that sometimes I asked myself if those paintings are fake.

However my doubts were cleared again when I come across a painting by Themreichan Kasom, a dear brother from Manipur this afternoon.

Check this out.

Fall in love with this Naga Christmas song ‘Christmas is best in my village’

0

It’s the time of the year where every one of us who are out of our own home state goes back to be with the family and loved ones. Yes, Christmas is here. But wherever you may celebrate nothing beats the celebration in the village. The joy of celebrating Christmas in the village is something which we can never experience in towns or cities.

Here’s a Naga Christmas song by NagaGenous that perfectly sums up why Christmas is best in the village.  You may want to pack your stuff after watching this video!

Here’s the English translation of the lyrics –

Christmas is best in my village

It doesn’t snow in my village
Santa claus is unfamiliar to us
Though we don’t get christmas cake
yet christmas is best in my village

Reindeers dont roam our forest
Exchanging christmas gifts is not our tradition
Bethlehem is a place we’ve never seen
Yet christmas is best in my village

The divine aroma of Axone
And delicious sticky rice bread
Piping hot, millet and job’s tears
How i long for christmas in my village

Jesus is born in my village
Our roosters crow with happiness
Our cow kissed the baby Jesus
Leaves its little calves

Come now let’s go to my village
There we shall find pure joy
There is love and peace
Christmas is best in my village

These pictures of students attending class in open air will break your heart

Since November 27, over 700 families have been rendered homeless in the outskirts of Guwahati after the Assam government carried out an eviction drive – as per a Gauhati high court order – in the area declared an eco-sensitive zone (ECZ) by the environment ministry around the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary. The area was declared an eco-sensitive zone by the environment ministry in June.

Amchang, situated in the state’s Kamrup district, was declared a wildlife sanctuary by the state government in 2004 by putting together the Amchang reserve forest, South Amchang forest reserve and Khanapara reserve forest.

The area which has seen the eviction drive for three days in a row was declared an ECZ this past June by an expert committee set up by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF).

School children were seen attending classes in the open after their schools were demolished during the eviction drive.

As per latest information coming from Guwahati, the high court has ordered a stay to the eviction drive after the state government submitted a prayer before it to treat the matter with a humanitarian view.
